Siri AI Availability: Why It's Not in the EU or China Yet
Launch regions, language limits, and what might change for Siri AI availability.
Siri AI began rolling out in beta in English — but not everywhere. If you're in the EU or mainland China, it's missing. Here's why, and what might change.
Where it is available
At launch, Siri AI is available in regions where Apple offers Apple Intelligence, on compatible devices (reportedly iPhone 15 Pro or newer) with device and Siri languages set to a supported language — which currently means English. Apple says more languages, including French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish, are coming.
Why not the EU
Apple has repeatedly cited the EU's Digital Markets Act when withholding AI features from Europe. The DMA's interoperability and data rules complicate how Apple wants to deploy deeply integrated AI, so the company has held features back while it works through compliance. Siri AI follows that pattern.
Why not mainland China
China requires regulatory approval for generative AI services, and Apple has historically needed local partnerships to offer AI features there. Until those approvals land, Siri AI stays unavailable — Apple has said it's working through the requirements.
What to do if you're waiting
Classic Siri still works fine for everyday tasks — see how to use Siri. Keep your iPhone updated; Apple expands availability through software updates, not new hardware. And read how Siri got here for the full backstory.
